Situated beside Cypress Lodge on Lake Babcock, Innovation Tower stands as an emblem of what Babcock Ranch represents — a city of the future. Every night from 7-10 p.m., lights adorn the tower, slowly morphing into different colors. The hues coincide with the seasons, such as fall colors in autumn and winter shades during the colder months. What many Babcock Ranch residents may not realize is that on Fridays and Saturdays the community is treated to three dancing light shows at sunset, 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

“It’s called a trigger show,” explained Ryan Lazenby, Babcock Ranch operations manager. “For three to five minutes, music will play, and the lights that run up all four corners of the interior of the tower will change colors and dance to the music. You see the show from inside the tower, outside on the deck or from anywhere in the area around the lake.”

The music varies from week to week and depending on the season. For the Fourth of July, patriotic songs take center stage. During the holidays, Christmas tunes dominate. The rest of the year you may hear country, Earth, Wind & Fire, oldies from the Great American Songbook or a DJ mix of contemporary dance music.

“People at Cypress Lodge probably love it at the end of the night, because you can sit in your lounge chair by the pool and hear the music and watch the lights dance,” said Aaron Pankau, manager of lifestyle services for the Babcock Ranch Residential Association.

“The way that the lights flash with the music and the whole tower is dancing is what makes it feel like a party,” Mr. Lazenby said. “If you haven’t seen it, especially if you are new to the community, it’s really cool. The pool is open until 10 p.m., so I encourage people to get a seat for the show.

“You definitely feel like a kid again when you listen to it and watch the dancing lights.”
